Like most corporations, Microsoft is in the business of making money. 
Throughout the years, Microsoft had made investments in different sectors in order to grow its business and customer-base by acquiring dozens of companies. Some of its investments had proven to be complete failures, though many of them became enormous money makers.

In this video we provide a timeline of all acquisitions made by Microsoft since 1987, with additional information on some of the companies that have made a significant impact.
